The Glorious 44th Entry Annual Reunion - 2014 at
the Kegworth Hotel, Derbyshire.
Over the weekend of 1
– 3 August 2014, members of the Glorious 44th Boy Entrant Entry from RAF
Cosford, Hereford and St Athan, together with many of their wives, met at the Kegworth
Hotel close to the East Midlands Airport to celebrate the 51st Anniversary of
their graduation from training into the Royal Air Force.
The Friday evening was
taken up with filling in the 51-year gap and several bar staff were kept very busy into
the early hours. Saturday was left to personal choice with many delegates visiting the
Tramway Museum at Crich
while others went on a tour of Calke Abbey.
The culmination of the
event was the Gala Dinner held with all the traditions of the Royal Air Force including
Grace, the loyal toast and toast to absent friends, with the organiser Tom Brown (Ground
Wireless - Cosford) as the after dinner speaker.
Bob Bertrum gave a
short presentation on the Royal Air Force Youth Section and 6 specially bottled
miniature bottles of Campbeltown Loch, generously donated by Willie Johnstone, were
raffled raising the magnificent sum of £270 for RAFA Youth Section.
Finally, following a
short vote of thanks from Willie he presented Tom with a unique bottle of whisky for all
his hard work in organising the highly successful event.
